As a STEM major at SLU, you'll have plenty of opportunities to practice the skills you learn, starting your freshman year. Whether that means using Python, C/C++, Java and Eclipse on our department systems or using virtual reality to control drones used in research, your professors will not only embrace technology — they're helping invent it.

Past STEM students at SLU have worked alongside faculty researchers on single X-ray photo detectors, designed a chemical vapor deposition system for synthesis of nanoscale carbon materials and built and designed small satellites launched by NASA.

A 14,000-square-foot creator space in SLU's Pius XII Memorial Library gives you an opportunity to learn and interact with the latest technologies, including 3D printers, 360 cameras, recording studios and hologram technology. Features include:

New Biology and Chemistry Labs

Macelwane Hall, home to the University’s Department of Biology and Department of Chemistry, offers new state-of-the-art research labs and teaching labs following a nearly $29 million renovation in 2018.
